I just removed my manifold, and found that there is white stuff in the lower collector portion of the 1g exhasust manifold and white stuff in the exhaust side of my turbo and my turbine blade is completely white. what is going on?

I don't have my fuel system put in yet, but if I am running lean is there a way to run richer? I also have a maft setup too.

Is your maft properly setup for 450s? If so, I would look into your fuel delivery system, bad pump, clugged filter....etc. And no, you shouldn't mess with the maft settings until you have a logger.

I would just spend the $60 for a logger and find out if there is a problem, a logger is good to have regardless.

I am running 14 psi and I just put new spark plugs in two weeks ago

well you could always just lower your PSI with your boost controller till you get your fuel system going.

with my mods 14psi should be conservative right? I also experience a complete cut in my engine under full load, like nothing fires for a second, could these things be related, running lean?

first, we are only guessing "lean" because of the white stuff you have in the exhaust, noone can tell you for sure what's going on or if there is a problems at all until you post some logs, and yes, 14 psi is fairly conservative.

Secondly, all you need is a compatible palm and cable from ebay, mmcd the logging software can be down loaded for free.

I kinda had the same problem, pulled my exhaust mani and the whole inside of it and the turbo were completely white. Running lean right. Well thats really odd to me because I know for a fact im running PIG ASS rich somehow. If you sit behind me at a light it smells like a gas station. I dont know whats going on with mine either guess i wanted to let ya know your not alone in wanting to find an asnwer haha. Good luck.

Yeah, same here. When I pulled my exh. mani I saw the white powdery stuff in there, too, and thought WTF since I know I'm running way way WAY rich... It's possible that it's the result of an old problem that has since been corrected (i.e. many, many moons ago the car may have been running lean for a period of time). That's the only thing I could come up with....I tried to scrape some of the white stuff out of there to get a better look at it, and it was stuck in there pretty good...so chances are it may have been there for quite some time.

Yeah thats the only thing I can figure unless maybe its burnt up fuel from it running so rich but I dont think thats what happens. So I dont know. Anyone else got any ideas im curious.

If the debris you've found is chuncky in nature it might be corrosion due to a head gasket leak. If the white stuff is very thin and smooth coating then I'd go with the theory that it's due to running lean. My corrision theory due to a head gasket leak comes from my recent experience.

Keep in mind as well that if a motor and turbo have been fed a diet of leaded gas for any length of time that this will also create white residue on hot side.
