Thunder Bay,
A couple nights ago I was coming off of a ramp onto the highway, and as soon as I got into the merge lane and started accelerating, it felt like my car lost all power. I was flooring the pedal but the car was losing speed, trying to give the car gas did nothing. I hit the clutch and pulled over to the side of the road, and the engine stalled. Now it won't start. It makes a strange grinding-type noise when I turn the key to start it. I turns over, but continues making the grinding noise until I stop trying to start it. This might be kind of a vauge description but it's the best I can do without actually recording the sound and uploading it, which I can't do right now. Does anyone have some idea what this could be? Thanks in advance.

Check your compression. Your timing belt may have jumped a few teeth and the grinding sound you hear may be the valves hitting the pistons.

Correct Defiant, turns out it was my timing belt that went. The damage isn't even worth repairing, possibly it wouldn't have been as bad if I wasn't driving on the highway at the time. This is probably the last post I will be making on DSMTuners, it was a good 2 years of DSMing and this site has helped me alot. I had fun with my Talon but it's finally time to say goodbye and move on. Good luck in the future to everyone here, take it easy guys :(
