I have a 1997 Elcipse GS-T with the 2.0 turbo engine.

I have an ignition miss. This is an interemittant miss. It does occur when the car is cold. It usually occurs after I have driven the car and turned if off for a short period of time.

The car won't rev above about 1500 RPMs and misses very badly.

Today it happened on the way home. So I put a timing light on each spark plug. Number 2 and number 4 were firing irregularly and when I reved it up they dropped out all together. These cylinders are fired by different coil packs. So I am assuming the coil packs are not the problem. The car does run, so I am assuming the Crank Position Sensor is ok. This leads me to the Cam Angle Sensor. I removed the cover on it and wipe away some oil but it didn't help. Is there anyone to test this part without the part tester that the manual says you need?

What else could be the problem?

Thank you in advance for your help

Thanks for Replying Rob. I Forgot to mention I clean and regapped the plugs. This did not help. They were in good shape to begin with. The plug wires are a few years old and in good shape. Of course neither of these would cause the systems I have, since I'm not getting power to the plug wires.

i'm having the same problem, a barely noticable miss all the time whether its idle or while driving. now when i drive the car say 10 miles and then shut it off and come back and try to start it 15 minutes later it misses really bad. i've check the resistance in the coils when cold and after warmed up and its right where it should be so i'm kinda stuck as to what to do. i have a few other little issuses as well, i know i have a small leak at the intake manifold gasket that i need to take care of, and my TPS gives me no reading when i move it, at the fully closed position its in spec, but i get nothing as i move it to fully open. it has the right voltage to it so i'm guessing its just dead, but its not giving me a check engine light. any ideas would be helpful.
ps. did a compression check and its at 150 150 149 151 and i have no other leaks besides the intake manifold gasket.
