Well it's time to tackle that pesky tob ! OMG What seals do I need to get from mitsubishi while I'm there getting a tob. Also putting in a act street clutch & 2600pp. Might as well get every thing at one time! Dave. Axle? output shaft? (92 laser awd)

I would say you want to change the axle seals, the seals for the transfer case, if you are changing the clutch I would also go with the pressure plate, and check the flywheel to see if it needs to be turned. Also check the C/V boots while you are in there. Anything else I am drawing a blank right now.

I'm going to go ahead and recommend a new clutch fork and pivot ball also. It's better to fight off all of the gremlins you can when the tranny is off because until you've done it several times it's not a fun job. You'd probably do well to make yourself an extended slave rod (carriage bolt from Home Depot) and install a new slave cylinder since this new clutch is going to be much heavier and will place alot more strain on your hydraulic system.

I ordered the tob & seals today.I'll check on the fork tomorrow were cheaper at mistu than at Chrysler. I checked just to make sure.;) Luckily I was a fleet service mechanic, And grew up working on cars before I got into the auto-body trade. You have not lived until you pull a 800 lb semi trans! Dave.

Well the trans case is cracked & the mounting ear is broke on the front of the block. I posted this as a response in another thread but wanted to post my Results in mine. (I just pulled my trans for the tob and the same ear is broke and the trans case is cracked! The flywheel was rubbing the transfer case making a noise when I pressed the clutch & thought it was the tob. The clutch was almost new and you can still read the Luk # on both sides .Whoever did the clutch BEFORE I got the car had the alignment dowel halfway crushed into the block near the starter. I'm going to have the trans case welded & who knows with the block. The front mount is in line with the mounting hole so I 'll make a spacer that attaches to the mounting holes at the bracket and bolt will screw through the mount bracket into that for clamping force). The pivot ball was spaced out and had a new clutch fork installed also. The flywheel was turned and still has the surfacing marks on it. It's a shame that all that was done and care less work installing the trans ruined what would have been a good job.Dave.

I have all of the same problems. The dowel pin in the back isn't a big deal you just pull it out with a pair of pliers and run the bolt in there anyways. The front ear on the block is important and needs to be welded back on or you need to make a bracket so that the transmission doesn't move.

Well as luck would have it, I stumbled across a complete g4cs engine ! So soon it will not matter. I've been reading on how to fix the block, some say cast iron welds strong & some don't. There's only 20,000 miles on it sense it was re-manufactured.(Portland engine says that every thing on the block was new except the crank and head).Hopefully it will hold until I get the 2.4 together. I had not planned to go this far with this project (As I'm building a TT dodge Challenger Convertible project) but can't let the car stay the way that it is. Call me a sucker! Dave.

Welding cast iron can be done, it just has to be done PROPERLY. If you want to fix it, I highly recommend attempting to braze it. Brazing works fairly well on cast iron and isn't too terribly difficult.

Well It's back together & working fine! I got ripped on the 2600 even though it was listed as Excellent shape it was burnt & grooved (Should have bought it new) tried to have it turned but no luck. Just cleaned it up the best I could and stuffed it in. Dave.
