I just put new tranny and clutch in my 93 tsi and after the instal when im driving down the highway above (55) the stearing wheel shakes like the tiers are not balenced, but they are. The only thing i could think of is i mesed up the passenger side tie rod somehow when I took the bolt of to get the cv shaft out for the transmission. Or do I just need to get it aligned?

Always, always, always get an alignment done if you are messing with anything having to do with the steering or suspension systems. If doing the tranny caused you to unblot any parts off the steering system, you will need an alignment. It may not be the direct cause of the problem, but could easily cause the car shaking. Me personally, because of living in Colorado and all the pot holes, I went to Firestone and got Lifetime alignment for $120. That means anytime I think I need it, I take the car and and get a full alignment for free (after the initial $120.) :thumb:

wtf is 170 plus tax here and they only do the front IF they think you need an alignment

## wheels are skipping across the pavement. Wait 3 weeks and look how much thread you have left on your front tires. you need to get the alignment done, one of your wheels (or both) are off

i will have a freind bring the car to his college automotive class ware they do it for free!. And i willsee if it fixes the problem.

make sure you trust your friend. my brother left his car in a tech school for auto enginerring to get his wheels balanced and the students thought it would be cool to test drive it and blew his engine.

There is a place in my town that does all of their alignments by hand versus the computerized systems at places like Firestone, and all of the car guys around town have noticed that they seem to do a much, much better job. The alignment is ALWAYS perfect, and the guys at the shop do it manually because the computerized systems allw for a bit of slop. It's also cheaper, so if you can find a TRUE alignment shop that will do it by hand, I HIGHLY recommend taking your vehichle there!

yes i do trust my frend because he is going to leave me with his civic (LOL) and it will only be a one day prosess. Ill look around befor I take it there to find a un machine ran alignmint.

i work at a kia dealership and i go threw one of my friend mechanics who charges me lunch for an all wheel alignment.
