Oil pressure.......just read

hey guys,

Its been a while since i posted, thanks to all of you who helped in my previous problems, my car has been running great............

But as of late, i've been getting some interesting oil pressure readings, when i idle my car, my oil pressure is somewhat normal either right on the lower normal mark, or slightly above.. BUT, when i'm cruising on the highway or normal driving, say about 25-3500 rpms, my oil pressure drops dangerously low. like halfway between the zero mark, and the lowest normal mark!!!

the level of oil pressure seems to be only influenced by the rpms, at idle the pressure is great. its only when i'm driving or at a higher rpm does the pressure drop like a brick.

I'm wondering whats going on, so any info would be awesome guys thanks!!

This may sound stupid but you probably just don't have enough oil in the motor. At the higher rpm's the motor is pumping all the oil it has out to the motor. Check the oil I would bet that it is pretty low. Hope that helps.

sounds stupid but it was the problem in my friends gsx...just had to add oil and it was fine...

Crimp or replace the connector on the pressure sensor. Your oil level's fine.

PPHEEWW..............yeah thats the first thing i thought of was the oil level, and i even did an oil change to see if there was any garbage or crap maybe clogging a line somewhere, but no, oil was reasonably clean, and at its proper level.

i'm going to check that oil pressure sender connector, i remember seeing that it was kind of loose before.... thanks guys for your replies!!

i agree. i was working on a car and the guy came back and said there was no oil pressure so i started freakin out and i looked under the car and saw the little connector came unplugged. whew for me. just clean it up a bit and put that baby back on and your good to go.

problem solved guys, man that had me scratching my head for a few days. yeah i went out this morning before work and looked that that plug, cleaned it up and put it back on...did my 20 min drive to work and back. My oil pressure could not be at a more perfect level!! thank you so much again...
