O.k. here's my problem. Purchased a car (1996 Eagle Talon Tsi) from a one owner.Engine doesn't work. The following is the story as it occured to the original owner: driving normally one day and the engine quit, towed to a garage where the mechanic's diagnost the problem as a bad ecu. It was replaced, didn't help. Then the car was taken to a dealer where they diagnost the problem as a bad CAS (this is where it starts to sound bad.) This fixed the problem for awhile. Car was driven 3 more times with no problems. Then it quit again while his daughter was driving it from Little Rock.It hasn't been running since this time. When they went to check it out, they found some bolts on one of the pullies had been loose and the pulley came off and flew into the side of the timing belt cover. He said he did a compression test and everthing seems o.k.(Although I don't know how this was accomplished) but that he thinks its just head problems. I believe it has crankwalk(b/c of his problems with the CAS) When i purchased the car, I found that the valve cover had a crack in it so I removed it, He had already removed the driverside motor mount and the upper and lower timing belt covers as well as some of the remaining pullies and belts.I plan on putting a JDM engine in the vehicle if I am unable to repair this engine. Any help diagnosing this would be greatly appreciated.
