I hooked up a auto meter air/feul ration gauge and it stays on lean and will not move, even after car has warmed up. it is taped into the wire lead under the pass. side kick panel. The car has a 255 feul pump, and it runs fine i dont understand why it is like that, any answers?
 
The autometer air/fuel ratio gauge is basically for decoration. It looks pretty but is hardly accurate. If you want an accurate air/fuel ratio you should invest in a wideband o2 sensor. They cost a lot more, but are pretty much a must for a good tune and just for comfort. Do a search for wideband o2 there is tons of info on them. Don't feel bad lots of people do the same thing, I know I did. Wish I knew then what I know now. Hey I'm in Va too, where is disputanta? I'm up near dc
 
that is true and a/f gauges that use the stock narrowband signal should never be used for tuning but still it should work. at idle and when you are cruising it should be bouncing back and forth. make sure you have it spliced into the right wire.
 
If you could take a meter and see if you have a signal (100mV-850mV or so), then you would know that the problem is your connector (hopefully you didn't "scotch-lock" it :nono: ) , wiring or gauge. Basically your install....

If there is nothing at the signal wire, then your looking at an oxygen sensor. I would verify that the "scotch-lock" you installed actually broke through the wiring insulation first.
 
first post on site and on a dead thread no less. im trying to wire my air/fuel gauge too and it says use the signal wire but which one? the O2 sensor on the downpipe or the rear one?
