car wll not start from key!!!

i finished my conversion from an auto to a manual... got everything done but the car will not start.... i check the starter and the starter is good... but when i turn the key there is nothing. i was told that it could be my nuetral safty... and that there is a way that i can bypass the wiring for that... but what wires am i looking for??? and what else should i check that might be y the car is not starting... like i said i can jump the starter and the motor will turn over but that is all... there is nothing when i turn the key...what wires do i check and what other possibilities might it be?????

Search for clutch safety switch.

The automatic starter circuit used the Inhibitor Switch (park/neutral switch) between the ignition switch start position and the MPI-fuel pump relay and the starter solenoid. The MT uses a starter relay and the Clutch Safety Switch to do the same things. On the Automatic, connector B-25 ran to the Inhibitor Switch and connected pins 8 and 9 (the black w/yellow wires) together when the trans was in park or neutral. Without the Inhibitor Switch (removed during the trans swap), the ignition switch and starter solenoid are disconnected from each other.

He's saying you need to rewire the neutral/park switch so that's it's not holding the starter circuit open. You need to replace the neutral/park switch and inhibitor with the clutch safety switch system. Connect pins 8 and 9 together to hold the circuit for the starter closed.

well maybe i dont understand but i didnt convert either...but i had a similar problem and it turned out to be my battery terminals...just one day they decided to stop workin

Hey www.vfaq.com go to drivetrain and then AT/MT conversion and it will tell ya what wires need hooked together I done it with my 93 Talon ES FWD. although AWD and FWD might be different

thank u everyone for ## coments.... didnt understand what u were sayin steve but i figured it out and it helped me alot!!!! and that vfaq site is the greatest. if i only would have had that when i started the project!!! .

now i got a new prob if everything else was not enough to deal with.... i got the car to turn over at the key, but the car will not start.... it acts like it wants to at times but its almost like there is not enough spark or something...i checked my fuel and i got fuel going to the fuel rail but it will still not start.... im going to check a couple things that i think it might be that i delt with on other cars that i had, was wondering if there might be something that i might want to keep an eye out for or what specific things it might be? this car is going to drive me crazy!!!

-Check the resistance at the coil pack. Both primary and secondary coils.
-Check and make sure your CAS isn't 180° out of phase.
-If that doesn't fix it, run a compression test.
