Some time ago I changed my fuel pump to a 190lph. After the install the gauge would sit on E, as I keep driving for about 280 miles or so (full tank) the gauge start moving over towards F. Well I only seen it go as far as 1/4 tank, at that time I would go and fill up. I am to scared to keep driving to see if the low fuel light would come on. Well before the install of the pump the gauge worked fine and the light came on when she ran low. What do you guys think I f-up? By the way when I fill it up even w/the car running she start going back to E. :notgood:

Well it sounds as if somewhere along the line the wires that communicate to the fuel meter have been reversed, or at least their signals have. It could also be a possibility that the sensors in the fuel level bar are shot, but the fact that this happened when you changed the pump tells me otherwise.

You will be fine driving until the fuel light comes on, the fuel light usually comes on when there is somewhere in the vicinity of a gallon of fuel left in the tank. The fuel light sensor should not be affected by the reversal of your fuel meter wires. If you aren't sure if your fuel light works drive just throw a small gas tank in the trunk until the light comes on or you run out of gas.

Check the sending unit with a volt-meter if you have one. There's a pretty detailed explanation in the Hayne's manual.

Ive never looked at a Chiltons for these cars, but they probably have the same fuel pump testing procedure. Look in there and see if it tells you to put the probes of a voltmeter in the plug of the fuel pump, and shows you which pins to test. If it doesnt I'll scan the page out of the haynes manual and post it for you. You have a voltmeter right?
