Hey guys new to the forum and just got a 91 eagle talon non tsi from a friend. I just put a tranny in it and now i am having worse problems. First off the exhaust is rusted before the cat so the is no cat and the rest of the exhaust is not connected. But my problem is that the car does not want to stay running for more than 3 seconds. No matter what RPM i keep it at. I just did a full tune up on it, (new plugs, wires, fuel filter and pcv valve.) Anyone know what the problem could be?? Or is it just the exhaust?

Also it has a miss in it sometimes its occasional sometimes it is all the time. what could this be?

Til Next Time,

Kevin :talon:

Is there a check engine light when it's running? Check the connections to the MAF sensor unit located inside the airbox. Bad exhaust would just make it sound like crap, not run like it.

Need more information.
How does it act when you're cranking the car? What do the rpm's do after it starts, before it shuts off?
Were you losing any fluids before the transmission swap ie. coolant, oil, etc.?
Are you sure your spark plugs are in the correct firing order?
Is your CAS 180° out of phase?

when i crank the car the rpms jump ans stay at about 2000 rpms until i put itin gear then it drops to 1000. firing order is correct. want losing and still arent losing any fluids. fuek pump works fuel filter is 2 days old. Here is another problem that i just noticed. At idle it has a semi constant miss. I can tell its not the same cylinder all the time but it is contantly puttering. but when i put it in gear the rpms stay constant and there is no miss what so ever.

Thanks for your help
