OK, so I have to go to emissions testing this week. I am in Maryland, and all they do on OBD-II cars is connect a scanner and pass it if there are no codes. On my DSMLink, it is set to not illuminate the CEL for EGR codes, O2 sensor codes, etc. Does anyone know if this will allow the car to pass on a scan tool, or is there going to be a P1000 code for OBD-II readiness not being met? Please let me know if you have any experience with this. Thanks for your help.

Certainl states allow you a certain amount of "not ready" flags. If you exceed the #, they fail you.

I don't see why you can't rig up a dummy O2 sensor so you don't have to worry about it. You can put the EGR back in for the test two, that might put you under the limit.

So are you saying it will definitely not pass a readiness test with the DSMLink set to not read those codes?

actually i think you might pass. not 100% on this but i think dsmlink tells the ecu to not look for the items, or ignore what they are telling at least. so if the ecu isn't looking for the egr etc it wont throw a code. I'm probably wrong ....dunno

I hope so... I am due for emissions testing by the end of the week, so I will find out then. I hope by the DSMLink telling the ECU to ignore those codes, it isn't just telling it that they haven't been read. Hopefully it actually just gives the ECU a correct signal and I should be OK then.
