OK, hopefully someone can help me out here. I drove home from work today, and stopped to get the mail. The car was left running. When I got back in and stepped on the clutch pedal, it felt like it went to the floor, and will not go into gear. There is still some resistance in the pedal, but nowhere near where it should be. I have an ACT 2600 clutch assy, and there is fluid in the master cylinder. I searched, and found members with problems with the slave cylinder, master cylinder, and clutch fork. Is there anything else I should check before pulling the trans out? It worked perfectly until this point, so I'm not thinking it is an adjustment issue, and I have not abused anything, so I don't think it is a clutch issue... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

could be the clutch cable that runs from the clutch pedal to your transmission. had that happen to me on my old accord. pedal went to the floor with hardly any resistance aside from the spring on the clutch. and obviously, since you're not pushing the clutch in when you push the pedal, it won't go into gear.

If you are not losing fluid then I would say the master cylinder is by-passing. Check the rod to see what kind of movement you are getting. If you are getting lots of movement, I would check a known good setup to confirm then it could be inside the bell housing. If it's not moving then I would look hard at the master cylinder. When the slave goes bad it is signified by leaking usually. I hope this helps Rick

Thanks, I was actually thinking it was the clutch master cylinder. I could hear air bubbling in that area when I had my wife pressing on the clutch pedal. I went out and got the rebuild kit from Carquest for $18, and I'll rebuild it tomorrow after work. Will let you know what happens. Wish me luck.

DSMs use hydraulic clutch setups. No cables here.

OK, so I finally got to rebuild my master cylinder, and to no avail. I put it in, bled the system, and it feels exactly the same. About 1/2 the normal pedal pressure until about 3/4 to the floor, then normal pedal pressure, but not enough to get the car into gear while running. Looking at the slave cylinder, the rod moves when the pedal is pressed, but I am not sure how much it is supposed to move normally. What are the symptoms for a bad slave cylinder, and a bent/broken clutch fork? How would I go about diagnosing one or the other, or something else entirely? I hope someone out there has an answer for me, I am getting very annoyed with this car...
