Hi,

I just had a problem with my Eclipse GS 99 last week, misfire in cylinder 4, spark plug was foiled so I changed all the plugs with Bosch Platinum+4 - BIG MISTAKE!!! 30 miles later another misfire in cylinder 4. I got to the mechanic and he said that Platinum+4 are nto very good for the car but the problem was in the coil pack so I changed coil pack, put standart stock plugs and wires. The problem went away and I have been driving for over 100 miles now without a problem but I am experiencing a strange problem:

When I am making a stop and the car is kinda hesitating and vibrating, not very much but notisably more than before all this happened. Since I drove on 3 cylinders for 10+ miles I bought a Chevron Techtron to clean up the fuel system as it might have got a lot of things through the misfiring 4th cylinder. I haven't noticed much of a difference but I have driven only 40 miles after I put the Chevron thing.

I was wondering whether this vibration is normal after changing these components and considering that maybe the fuel system hasn't cleaned itself yet. I have questions:

1. Have anyone of you experienced that or knows whether it is normal or I should worry about?

2. Should I put another cleaner to additionally clean the fuel system or one Chevron Techtron is enough for the job?

Thank you for your help,

Svetlin

Actually this is the only thing I haven't changed - the fuel filter. Will do that..might help, anything else? Could it be a leak somewhere, what do you think?

I doubt you have that massive of a leak . But you can go over all of your vacuum lines to make sure none have any holes or tears in them.

Defiant is correct. You need to find what fouled your plug in the first place.

i had a 2.4 97 Chevy Malibu before i bought my dsm and i had a similar problem. i drove like 30 miles with a miss then replaced my plugs with Bosch plat +4.. the first thing the guy at advance auto parts said to me was " Please tell me your not putting those into that car" he laughed at me.. well it worked good for a week and then the same one went bad again.. i replaced the coils and and put normal Bosch in and it worked fine.. it still felt like it had less power and bogged a little. But it was running good.. i still would like to know why it kept filing them.. if you find out let me know. my friend bought the car off me and it will probably happen again.

The foiled plug was an original Bosch and came with the car, I changed all the plugs to Bosch+4 after I found out about the misfire but then 30 miles later I got misfire on the same cylinder so I went to the mechanic and he changed all the plugs - stock Mitsu now, wires, and the coil pack. He said that the coilpack must have caused it but in any case I feel a little vibration on stops and my idle is not really good - in the 400-600 range. I do not know whether it is connected or not, next week I will change the fuel filter and will see if this will change the vibrations. Already poured a bottle of Chevron Techtron injectors cleaner but couldn't feel any difference :(
