Still working out the kinks guys. Just installed an evo3 a few days ago.

The first few minutes after starting the car there is an odd "chirping' sound whenever I apply throttle enough to get it to leave vac and hit 2-3 psi. It goes away once it gets higher PSI than that, it also goes away completely once the car hits operating temp. I just wanna make sure I'm not starving my new turbo of something it needs. Thanks guys. :thumb:

My guess is it's a small exhaust leak (manifold/turbine/O2 gasket) which closes up when the metals heat up. May want to pull the heat shields and look for exhast traces in these areas and make sure bolts are tight :dsm:

also wouldn't hurt to check for shaft play, i know its new, but its just one less worry to cross off the list.
Also recheck your oil lines and make sure you have propper flow incase you're not actually getting all the oil you need to your turbo.

have the same problem with my T25... If I go into any boost at all before the car gets into a normal operating temperature I get a strange whine from the turbo, I never really thought about it but it kind of sounds like the noise a cricket makes, just real long and drawn out. But anyways, someone told me that it could be a small crack in the exhaust housing on the turbo and as the metal would heat up and expand, the crack would sort of seal itself and the noise would go away. But I'm no expert, but it's a thought (btw I have 0 shaft play)

LOL Thank god I look around a bit before I posted.... I'm actually having the exact damn problem right now. I did currently have my exhaust manifold off (it has a small surface crack, nothing major) and now that it is back on, the noise comes. It's like a fluttering noise once I boost but it does go away when the car heats up a bit. I'm guessing I'll have to take off the manifold and re-gasket it?

mine does the same thing and sounds like a cricket when its cold.. i also have a crack on top on the manifold too, and it goes away when warm
