Okay so here's the story so far. I have all the free mods done. I bought a menchanical boost gauge. I installed it last night. And then I went for a drive. On a 3rd gear pull I only registered 7 psi  . I tought with the free mods I would get at least 13 psi. I have the guage hooked up correctly. It is tapped into the fpr line. SO I checked for leaks and I found a slit in the line from the bcs to the wastegate. Since I was going to replace that when I installed my Joe P......I went a head and installe the Joe P mbc. With the screw backed all the way out the guage gave me 7 psi agian on a 3rd gear pull. But the boost still builds rather slow. Should I go ahead and adjust it and see if I can get more boost or leave it alone for now and boost leak test. I have to beat those damn hyundai boys and there tiburons......grrrrrrrrr

Thanks!!!

definitely boost leak test, and make sure to tighten that screw back down on your boost controller. You don't want all out madness when you figure out the problem. You are running 7psi because that is the spring rate on the wastegate so something is not right. Make sure the mbc is hooked up right, and do a boost leak test.

I'm going to do a boost leak test tomorrow. And the mbc it hooked up correctly I am sure of that.

Thanks

I know that I was just saying that I replaced the line that had a tear in it. even with the boost controler screw all the way in I ca only get about 11 psi.......and it still builds really slowly. I think the wastegate maybe the problem....still have to boost leak test it.

Thanks

thats funny..i live the same place as you and have the same car and same problem with my car....

could be the wastegate. but first try installing that thing someplace else. try installing it between the wastegate and the j-pipe. boost controller in the middle. tapping into the fpr takes the air a longer distance to travel. i just noticed where ya said you had it mounted.

Boost gauge install is fine. No need to worry about that.

Did you ever fix that leak?

You need to run a boost leak test. If you don't find any leaks then there is something wrong with your wastegate. It is probably not sealing completely. Post back results of the boost leak test then we'll work on the wastegate.

oops, dang it. i misread. i thought he was saying he had the boost control vacuum line tapped into the fpr line.

Well, there is a huge boost leak. The gasket between the j-pipe and the turbo is completely blown. So I'm going to replace the gasket and do another boost leak test, and see if that fixes it. I think that was the problem and not really anything to do with the wastegate. When we did the boost leak test, the air compressor could only build up about 8 to 9 PSI as per the boost gauge, and that was it......... the leak was that bad! post back tomorrow with new gasket.....

Fool904: That's funny! We'll have to meet up sometime in the future. :laser:

Thanks :D

So I finally got the gasket in. I did a 3rd gear pull and pulled 11 psi and built it a lot faster :D . So I tried to turn up the boost. And all i could get was 10 psi out off it no matter how hard I tried  . but it does still build it faster. So I need to do another boost leak test right? And start looking for more leaks......

Thanks

Of course you do, the test isn't done until you're able to hold 20psi for at least 30sec. I thought that was your original plan to begin with?

Sorry......haven't had much sleep lately I appologizes for the last post. Will post after I get some more info.

Thanks
