I rebuilt my engine about a month ago. I used a crapline front cover on it, it just recently starting sounding like my oil pump is whining real bad. It whines all the time and gets louder as rev's go up. I also have half the oil pressure that I used to. I've got everything off of the front end... I am contemplating pulling the front cover off and replacing it with another (new pos crapline) that I have sitting here. Any ideas what may have caused this or what else might be making this noise? I'm about fed up with this car!!! All I want to do is drive the damn thing.

Um....maybe you should replace the oil pump then and not the front cover. I believe they changed the design of the pump so the grooves are angled instead of up-down. If you really think it's the oil pump, hook up a drill to the pump (14mm) and spin it for like 5 seconds. Don't do it for too long because it'll build up pressure pretty damn quick and you might cause things to leak/break/split apart/etc.

Well the reason I said replace the entire front cover is because I have a complete new one sitting here. Although I will take your advice and hook a drill up to it and see if it is the oil pump. I sure hope this is all it is... I sure hope it isn't something like a main bearing. :(

Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the replies you all. The oil pump was the problem, just turning it by hand it was obvious. Luckily, I accidently bought two of them when I was doing my rebuild. So I will throw this one on and see what happens.

:barf: I love my car! LOL!

Update: If anyone cares. My stub shaft came unbolted from the gear in my oil pump. What kind of luck is that! I pulled my oil pan and found the stub shaft laying there.
