ok i have a 93 eclipse n/t i went and bought a 93 talon tranny to put it in my car . for some reason they looked diffrent( i thought they would be the same) one of them had a extra piece to the case right by the cv joints. i tried putting it in but it didnt fit cause of that piece hitting on the chasis. so i tried to rebuild my old one using the other ones parts (the clutch and pressure plate fit so im guessing its basically the same) did the whole rebuild everything is how it was but when i closed it the top that goes on at the back by 5th and reverse wont let the tranny shift into reverse because it hits whenever you try. both tops look the same but im not sure cause we broke one messing around so if anyone knows about this type of stuff let me know.
thanks :thumb:

awd? OMG ....the extra piece is just on the case it doesnt have anything on the inside it looks like it just made to hold more oil in the tranny but its not that big it looks like a lump

Does anyone know abut tranny's that can help me i need to fix my car and dont want to take it to a shop

Do you know what the model number of the tranny that you bought is because there are two types. theres the F5M33 used on FWD DOHC turbo and N/T engines and then theres the F5M22 used on the SOHC engines. they look similar but are a little different.

i dont see those numbers anywhere???? where would they be at?

Most trannys either have a tag with it stamped in it or its part of a casting number right on the case. Normally its on the front side or on the bellhousing. My 92 Eagle has it stamped on the bellhousing near the engine/transaxle bolts and the 94 Eclipse that i had B4 it, same thing. Let me know what you find.
