Hey,
Okay I just bought a 92 laser awd. It had a bad ecu which I replaced. That fixed problem #1
Now she runs great.......except for what my friends are calling the crunchy sound. I don't think it sounds crunchy at all, but that is what one of my friends called it, and it just kind of stuck. It sounds to me like something rubbing together like a bad hub bearing or something of that sort. The sound is coming from the passinger side front wheel well. I only hear it when the car is under load(foots on the gas). As I accelerate so does the sound and eventually you can't hear it unless you are on the passingers side. I of course immediately assumed it was the x-case, but there is no leak and I serviced it anyway and the sound didn't change, also I was told thatthe x-case doesn't really make a sound before it goes bad the only indicationthat it is going bad was leaking. I spoke with the guy who sold it to me and he said that every mechanic he talked to about it told him it was NORMAL transmission noise......????????? Now I am very new to the tuning world this is my first project....I have studied hard and bought this car so i could learn all I can about mechanics and tuning so....If I have just missed something simple that would fix it please no newb bashing.
Any help would be great. I don't want to have to take it to the dealer.
