i searched like crazy, but i used seafoam on my car the other day, and a ton of it came from under my hood, i looked around but could not spot the leak. im wonderin if there is any way to find leaks without using seafoam again or possibly with the car off?

my s16g takes till about 4500rpms to hit full boost :(

Ok... uh sea foam is a cleaner... you put in oil, or gas...
so exactly how did it come to be spurting out from under your hood?

If you do not hear a very loud noise, like open headers coming from your exhaust you do have an exhaust leak. Or need to install an exhaust system, to make finding issues like this easier...
Now if you do have a very loud open header like noise and you cannot find it.. your deaf.

for full boost, that is normal... (ok I was wrong, I am used to dealing with full T3/T3 hybrids) Now if it was not doing anything untill that RPM you definately have issues.
Hell my T3 does not even start to spin until 3 grand...

well if you do have a slow spool from your turbo that is caused by an exhaust leak it will have to be somehwere before the o2 housing. That means that perhaps your manifold to head has a leak ( perhaps not completely bolted in or gasket is destroyed) or your mani to turbo is not completely leak free. Now that is if the slow spool is from an exhaust leak. Also consider doing a boost leak test to make sure you are not losing any vital air. You may think you are not boosting but in reality are and losing your air through boost leaks. Also you mentioned that it takes till 4500 to hit full boost.......but when does it start hitting boost? And bostedquest a s16g should hit full boost before 3500 atleast.

Have a friend (one with common sense) block the exhaust (tail pipe) with a piece of carboard (or a folded up cloth) while you listen for leaks. Do not block it off for too long, he should know when to let go if he has common sense.

sea foam has a few different uses, i ran about 3/4 of it threw a vacumn line on the back of the intake manifold, and i put the rest in the oil. using the seafoam this way causes white smoke to come out of the exhuast due to it burnign up all the carbon inside the engine. my car started pouring white smoke from where the exhuast manifold is on the bottom side.

it sounds the same as it always has. i have a 2.5 dumtube on the car so it always sounds like a very loud open header when i hit full boost, but before that it sounds normal.

and lastly ive have read about many other s16g's hitting full boost around 3 grand, and have seen a few b16gs doing aboot the same.

ill try ur suggestion oldman

Well I do not deal with anything but T3's... so sorry for that...
But if your taking that long to build boost, the leak would be pretty bad...
Well I learned a new use for seafoam... but I usually do that test with ATF... little cheaper and does just as good.

Or hook up compressed air to the tailpipe and go up and listen.

Count on a cracked manifold.
I have mostly seen DSM's with cracks up top... not on the bottom. Unless it started at the top and worked its way around the bottom, seen that too.

thanks for the help guys. me and a mechanic at my work are gonna take a look at it tommarow, ill post back when it gets fixed letting you guys know what it was.
