did a compression test straight from vfaq, pulled all 4 plugs and went one by one down the line.
123 +/-2 across the board. was worried about the numbers since the engine has -300 miles on a built block/head. got 3 of the plugs back in and decided to do a wet compression on the last cylinder. dumped about a cap of oil in and ran the test.

195+ psi this was about what i was expecting since i had 9to1 pistons in, but i was totally confused that i didnt get it the first time. my buddy and i thought about it for a bit and decided to run one more time. this time we tested the exact same cylinder (195) but pulled the plug on the cylinder immediately to the left of it.

163+ psi the only conclusion we could come to was that i must be leaking across the headgasket between cylinders. i do have a Cometic MLS HG and i know they have a problem sealing at times.

main question is do you think our thoughts are correct and i am leaking between cylinders, or do you have other suggestions that i should try before removing the head.
thanks, mike
