SO i put my car in the shop to get the water pump and the timing belt changed. All stuff installed fine and we started my car and it ran for like 2 mins then shut off. I scanned it and got (Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction) so we replace that and start it again. It runs but then makes a pinging noise (louder as throttle goes up). Rev it a couple times to listen then it shuts off and wont start. I scan again and the (Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction) comes up again. Im stumped ,why would this keep malfunctioning?

ok man, here is the deal, other day i was cleaning my engine bay and i decided to keep my car running while i sprayed it down well i turned it off to wipe it down with a rag but i got distracted and laid the towl by the cam gears and went to start the car without thinking and the rag rapped itself around the cam gear. car them would not start.

Time went out 3 cogs, and i destroyed the upper crankshft sensor that goes underneath the cameshaft, there are two fo these crankshaft sensors, one is located down on the crank itself and the other is up on the camshaft.

I just ordered the sensor today, so on mon i will let you know how it went.

Make sure that the inner metal peice on the inside of the cam gear is not damaged, make sure you replaced the RIGHT sensor, the lower crankshaft sensor could be the one malfunctioning, do to the fact that alot of oil of dirt are big around that area,

hope this helps, let me know how it goes.

does it make your engine crankwalk? i sure hope not, of the many thousands of 4G63's made, and every single one of them needing a timing belt change at 60,000 miles, i dont think it's going to crankwalk... crankwalk is merely a hit or miss thing when it comes to getting your car, some get it, some don't...
