I was told by a local midas shop that my balance shaft broke? Is he talking about the harmonic balancer or the shaft itself? Have any of you had similar problems? I am just trying to make sure they are not trying to rip me off.

is that the pulley that runs the alternator and such? i just bought a GST and the harmonic balancer needs to be replaced... the pullly comes off if you go anywhere...

well the problem that I had with mine was that the balance shaft bearings broke (found them in the oil pan) therefore allowing the shaft itself to be knocking my block and cause a really bad ticking/knocking noise loss of compression and oil pressure. if that is the case then an eliminator kit would probably be the easiest replacement. And in agreement with Defiant I would not let Midas do anything to it.
