Does anyone have picture of the lower ball joints? just want to make sure.
I am curious to know reason being that my car has been making some funny creeking noise when I turn the wheel, I have already called the dealer to see if the recall was done on the lower ball joints and they were.

I put my car on jack stands to check out what was going on and it appears the the 2 boots (side by side) on the bottom (passenger side) behind the middle of the rotor are torn, I put some grease in there in the mean time and it seemed to temperarily fixed the problem, are these the lower ball joints? and if so does anyone know the part number?

I didnt have a digital camera available at the time sorry.

need to get this fixed asap

any help much appreciated.

Thanks,

The part you are talking about sounds like the outer cv joint boot is torn. Does the boot your talking about have rib's around it??? If so then that is your outer cv joint boot. I dont have any pics handy right now, but the ball joint is the part that is directly under where the cv joint enters the hub/rotor on the backside. If you look at your lower arm it's shaped like a triangle, follow the triangle towards the wheel, where it would come to a point if it were a real triangle, right there is where the ball joint is attached. If you look around you will see a nut holding it on, through a stud coming up through the steering knuckle. Ball joints usually make a clanging sound like something is loose when you hit a bump, like when you are on a bumpy back road. :dsm:

Here I went to the trouble to find this for you, where i have the arrows pointing near number 4 is your lower ball joint. I was thinking that you had a 1g. :dsm:

Thanks BISHILVR,
appreciate the effort....
I went ahead and bought new lower ball joints for both the passenger and driver side, and while I was replacing the lower ball joint on the passenger side I noticed that the other boot was torn as well can anyone tell me the part name of this joint/arm is?

"It's called a lower compression arm and it's basically one of two points on the bottom side of the wheel that keep the wheel in place. If you don't replace it the the ball joint itself can wear out and pull out of the socket (in the lower compression arm) and you will lose control of the car. It's alot like the lower lateral arm recall only this component is not part of the recall."
