when im just cruising down the road, almost anywhere at or below 2500 when i try to speed up, the logger is showing alot of knock, up to 22 counts. im hordly boosting at all, and i do have a boost leak somewhere(i havent had the time o really look for it). could that be the problem. i bought a new fuel filter today also. im not sure when the current filter was changed (it says denso on the side, so its either the original, or from the dealer, not sure)

any help is appreciated, the track opens up tomorrow, unless it rains
thanks

I've read just about every knock thread on this board trying to figure out some knock I was experiencing, and I think what you are seeing is pretty common.

From my own experience, a little bit (or even a lot, sometimes a full 43 count ) of knock will occur when you are cruising around town. I notice it frequently when I accelerate slightly, or
go up a little hill, but it seems pretty random. At first I was worried that something was going wrong with my car, but I think all that is happening, is that you are getting a little knock because when you are part-throttle cruising, your timing is advanced and fuel ratio is lean.

Your ECU keeps the engine running with advanced timing and a lean mixture to improve fuel economy, and when you add a little air, sometimes you get a little knock. As far as I can tell from my experience, this is how the ECU is supposed to operate. I get zero or near zero knock when I accelerate at full throttle.

You only need to worry about knock when making full throttle runs, because then you should be running on the richest fuel maps and with the most conservative timing maps.
