Hi!

In the process of converting my 95 gsx from us to euro i had to modify the rear blinkers so that they had seperate bulbs. I also changed to edm tail lights.

After doing this the blinkers were blinking to fast. So i was in the middle of trying to put some extra resistance in so that they would blink normal speed when some how i must have shorted something out because now my blinkers don't work..

The hazard switch still works and when i turn the hazards on i can hear the relay going on and off(from the small black "relay box"). When i try to use the blinkers otherwise i can hear no sound, no relay clicking.

So from what i can gather the problem is somewhere either before the relay box or in the relay box itself.

I've been trying to get a schematic over the circuit but so far no luck..

Please help me...this is the only thing keeping me from getting my car registered.

Best regards
Tobias :dsm:

First of all check all your fuses. If good, problem must be in either turn signal lever switch or more likely in the turn signal/flasher unit. This all assumes the mods you made are compatible with the turn signal/flasher unit. What are edm taillights? You say you had to modify the rear blinkers so that they had seperate bulbs - separate from what? If you pm me your email address I can send you the circuit diagrams for the turn signals.

Edm= european domestic market

I only used the shell though not the wires from the european tails..

The thing is that us spec eclipse uses the breaklights as blinkers (2 filament bulbs) while here in europe i had to have a seperate bulb for the blinkers.

I had a shop do the wiring for me but they didn't touch anything except the wires in the rear of the car.. They made it blink correctly but too fast.. They didn't find the hazard\indicator relay box.

I checked all fuses under the hood and none of them were blown so i guess either something is wrong in the turn signal lever switch or in the turn signal/flasher unit..

The saga continues ;)

well i checked the turn lever switch.. it seemed functional.. When i switched from right to left position i got 2 different signals out...

From what i could understand the turn signal and hazard flasher unit uses the 2 relays inside to activate the indicators so since my hazard switch works the relays must be working...

My guess is that something else inside this unit is malfunctioning..maybe a capacitor or something..

Any help would be appreciated..

Agreed. You verified that both the front and back really do flash - just too fast - you looked - correct? For the 95-96's the turn signal flash rate is somewhat dependent on the bulbs' current draw (to charge an internal capacitor). And European bulbs are generally more efficient (draw less current) than the US ones for the same candlepower. Too fast normally means the unit thinks one bulb is out (too little current draw) so you might try connecting 1 or 2 more bulbs on each side as a test.

Well right now the indicators don't work at all and it looks like i have to change the hazard\indicator unit..

Problem is neither mitsubishi germany, mitsubishi norway or I(caps) can find the correct part number..

The box holding the circuit says:

MB943259
Denso
066500-3331
Made in Japan
PPE+PS

No body recoginzed the part number and i can't find the part in CAPS so i'm not sure how i'm going to find a replacement unit.

Best regards
Tobias

Possible breakthrough!!! OMG

After looking at the circuit diagram for a good while i came to the conclusion that the fault couldn't be in the indicator\hazard circuit (black box) or the colloum switch..

I think the problem is in this fuse(picture) or in the hazard switch..

But i can't find this fuse in my car...i've checked all fuses under the hood and they are fine!

Pleasssse help me :dsm:

That 10A fuse (I'm assuming it's the middle one in the picture) is in the driver's side kick panel, top row, 4th from left. It supplies power to the turn signal/flasher unit.

BTW, in case you didn't know, here's an article on "How to wire euro/jdm taillights": http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=129261

well what i did is put everything back to standard(usdm) and then followed the directions in the articled you linked to.. so now my left side blinks just fine. At the right tempo and in the amber corners. The left side however blinks to fast and the green arrow doesn't light up when it blinks... i really don't know what to do :notgood:
