Ok i did a motor swap and used my stock tranny. Well I was driving it. I put prolly 30 miles on it then all the sudden its not shifting. Grinds and won't go into any gear. I'm thinkin Master cylinder.... Anyone else have any other ideas? Thanks guy

could be the master or the slave cylinders, but since it was fine before the swap, it seems unlikely. Howabout the shifter cables? or even the fork?

Sounds more like the clutch failing to disengage. Transmission would be suspect only if you had problems shifting with the engine off. May have to check that the clutch is fully disengaging itself.

I'd get a friend to push in the clutch a few times while you look at the slave cylinder to see if the clutch fork is moving it's full amount.

Also, when you have the clutch pressed in and rev the engine, Is there any vibration or strange noises from the engine bay?

Yea i had a friend push the clutch, and the slave cylinder was moving. I'm not sure if it was movin the fork the full distance or not. And yes i started to hear somethin kinda rattling. But i thought the rattle mite be my exhaust cuz i have developed a small leak in the 2 years it didnt run. I also tried to move the clutch fork w my hand to see if it was broke and i couldnt budge it. I'm at a loss? :notgood:

The reason I ask is because I had a similar issue right after my tranny swap and didn't know what it was.

So I just drove my car home and let it sit there and idle while I looked around for the source. Eventually the rattle got even louder. If you revved the car it would be somewhat calm, but the moment you let off it would just put off all kinds of nasty noises.

We decided to drop the tranny again and check for any issues.

Once we got the tranny down we realized that the flywheel bolts had somehow came loose.(Yes, we used locktite and 100 ft/lbs).

I hope that helps you in some way.

Ugh well i'm guessin thats probley what the problem is. Because when I did the swap I was afraid I didnt get the bolts tight enough. Guess the tranny will come out this weekend. Thanks for all the help guys. I'll post to let u know what happened.

Well i took my tranny down this last weekend and my flywheel was loose. 3 of the bolts had backed out and were rubbing on my clutch so i ordered new bolts from the dealership and should be here tomorrow. I'm lucky i didnt mess anything else up. Only think i have to do is re-tap the holes cuz they kinda got worn down. Thanks for the help guys
