Heres the problem. My boost gauge doesnt work when try to start the car. And if it doesnt set itself when i turn the car on, the car wont start. Is this an ecu problem? What is it?

I don't know that there is any relationship between your gauge and ECU and no start. Why not give us some more info so we can try to help you? When did the problem happen, what were you doing, what were the conditions, what have you done about it?

You don't go to the doctor and say "I'm sick ... you figure it out". Use nouns, verbs and adjectives to describe what you know, nobody is expecting you to be a pro. I can ask do you have gas in the car, is the battery charged, any history etc. Understand no crank is not the same as no start.

Cheers,
GTM

I don't know GTM, I'm still trying to decide if this is a joke or not. LOL!

Understood, I'm very cautious about filling out personal info including "notify me" when someone responds to my post. Or "send private email" until I know the site is not intentionally tracking activities other than bare essentials. Someone able to penetrate all that info would have a gold mine worth selling at $3 each. So unless they bookmarked their post they don't even know if anyone responded. Then there are those who do a "hit and run" and we never see them again yet they read all the posts. Then there are those who get treated rudely and made fun of to the point they never come back.

When I select a post I look at how many people viewed it and never replied because they didn't have an answer or placed a value that it was too stupid or they didn't know how to deal with it. It didn't take long to reply, I made my point we don't have chicken entrails or Chrystal balls to guide us so give us a running start and we can explore the problem.

You and I are comfortable with writing but consider the very first post or email you ever made... I remember feeling like A.G. Bell saying "come here" and my fingers could scarcely find the keyboard. That was 25+ years ago with a home built modem at 150 baud. :) If we got had... OK we learned something and become better skilled at reading between the lines.

How many of these members have several identities because they are sickos. Some day I will tell you about one that caused Interpol to take notice. I've also mentioned plants for radio and TV shows just looking for info to stimulate their show or because they are plagiarists, can't do their own research so they will steal original ideas to bolster the ratings and collect a paycheck. My contributions to this site are copyrighted and that has always been understood. My opinions are mine alone and do not reflect on the owners.

LOL G, I can't keep up with your long posts, I think they should triple your post count. :)

I roam the Honda-tech site and sometimes you see people from rival sites posting something stupid just to stir things up, I thought this might have been one of those. TalonTsinewbie, if you're still reading this, post back with more details and we will try our best to help.

:D Are you making fun of me? Have you been reading my earlier posts? :coy:

Okay when i turn the ignition key to the on position, the boost gauge jumps to 0. Then the car will start. However if the gauge doesnt jump to 0 the car won't start. It will turn over but it just won't start. The car is all stock and the ecu had a busted cap, that my uncle fixed, and it seems to work fine but sometimes i question it.

When capacitors leak, it can damage the board. If your uncle only changed the capacitor, I would agree that the ecu could be in play. I suggest getting it looked at by a professional. If "steve" the ecu expert doesn't hop on board, pm him. He fixes them as well. Good luck.

It will usually take three or more tries to get the gauge to set, if it doesnt then i turn the key OFF and wait for a click sound that I think is the ecu. Please help!

Thanx!

It sounds like a relay or poor connection that may be failing. This could be you battery and/or charging system may not have adequate voltage to always pull the relay closed and complete the circuit. Compare the schematic and isolate how the starter solenoid is activated and how the instruments and ECU etc. gets power.

Before you go off with other things verify the charging and battery are working.

When the ECU powers up it does a couple of visable things. The CEL light turns on for a few seconds and the boost gauge goes to zero.

The symptoms described are pretty much a general description of a bad ECU. The actual causes vary but since you've have capacitor problems before I'm guess the repair was incomplete and is now intermitant on it way to becoming consistant.

It's possible that a bad MPI relay or ignition switch could also cause problems like this.
