Where To Tap For Gauge?

I just bought a sunpro temp gauge because my factory gauge seems broke, just a el-cheapo to last me till I get home. It is mechanical and has a pipe sender that needs to be connected somewhere. I would like to know where I should tap this guy, it's maybe 3/4 at the nut and 1/4" at the sender, maybe 1 1/2" long or so. Also, any good places to run stuff through the firewall?

What type of temp gauge?

You can get it through the firewall at your steering column. There is a big rubber boot you can just poke a hole in to run it through.

Water temp gauge, I've been running hot but would like to be able to see accurately what my temp is.
