I have a bad squeling belt or at least I believe its a belt. At start up one of them lets out a bad squel and will usually squel badly until the car has been warmed up for a long time. These are brand new belts too. Do you think they belts are on too tight or too loose to cause the squeling?

well the fact that it's squealing for that long means that one of your belts is way loose. it may not look or feel loose when the car is not running but trust me, it's loose. get in there with your ratchet and re-tighten all the belts you can. That should fix the problem.

I just did my timing belt less than 500 miles ago and the balancer was fine at the time. I'm pretty sure its a belt.(My car only has 60k miles on it but I dunno if these things tend to go this earlier or not but it was fine at the time) I'll try tightening them up more.

I've seen this done to isolate a continuously squealing belt:

Hold a piece of wax against the grooved side of the belt as it is moving. The squeal will temporarily go away when you wax the right belt.

Obviously do this cautiously. And, I have no idea what the long term effect of waxed belts might be.

If it doesn't go away, like Defiant suggested, check your balancer.

Theres some spray that you can use on belts I'm gonna try that. A guy I work with said he worked on a car that used the same belts and they were squeling too. If this helps I'm running an UO racing waterpump and p/s pulley and I'm using good year gatorbelts(starting to think they are horrible design) and I have a feeling the belts are slipping.

Yes I have the belt dress up as well, it doesnt work for long.

Whats the balancer?

And I have brand new belts and it still sqeuaks is it possible that its th pullys? And how much are the pullys to replace

just be careful on not tighting the belts to much,if you tighten the belt on the crank to tight it has been known to start messing the crank up,i have seen it several times in my shop, not nesesarily on our cars but beware, also it is more nown for v belts to squeal, which can be caused by tightness and allso the pulley could be out of shape making the belt ride in a different location then norlmal, this has happened to my car and a few friends.so good luck :thumb:

Well I believe my pullies are too lose I can defiantly tell they are slipping madly. I didin't think of it but its obvious my new belts had broken in and stretched liek all belts will and they just needed to be tighten. Well I thought both belts were tighten but my stepdad neglected to tighten the belt going to the waterpump so I'm confident thats the one slipping because I can easily push it up and down with my finger unliek my other belt. I'll let you guys know tommarow if this fixed the problem if not I'm totally stumped.

Check your harmonic balancer, as always.

haha Haven't seen this one in a while. This is how I ran into Defiant for the first time. I didn't know what a harmonic balancer was back than and he wouldn't explain it either. A ps pump, couple sets of drive belts and countless re tightening later, the balancer separated on me.
