This has happened twice now since we got the car running, but under high boosting, I've blown the down pipe off of the cat. The first time I put it back together, I pretty much tightened the clamps as much as I could and it still wound up blowing off again. It's got those C-clamp type deals with 2 14mm bolts going through them. Does anybody have any recommedations on what I could do to prevent this from happening? One of my friends said I should use some band clamps and that would solve the problem but I dont really know.

If you cant get any clamps to work, you could always weld them. Although I wonder why it would repeateadly come off...

Your motor mounts are probably bad so when the motor moves, it probably pulls the downpipe far enough forward to pull out of the clamp. Don't weld it just yet because the next weakest link will give. Check out your motor mounts and see if they need replacing.

funny you should mention motor mounts because I know for a fact they are going out. we had the two side ones out when we were rebuilding the head so I know they need replacing. I can't belive I didn't think of that. guess I know what my next purchase will be.
