Sidney,
I installed a set of the brass underhood bushings and they work great for 2-3, 3-4 and 4-5 shifts, my 1-2 shift is sticky, it feels like i'm fighting to get it in/out of gear, once i move to third gear, the problem is non-existant. I look a look at the linkage and nothing seems to be out of place or binding? anybody had this problem before and know any fixes?

It's a little late in the season to see this type of complaint when cold weather has been upon us for a while. You could try draining and re-filling the transmission with a lighter oil. I've seen comments where some people claim one works better than anything else they have used. Sometimes it helps to double clutch when shifting so you get the RPM matched to transmission spin speeds for the gear you select. Try not to force it, make sure the cables are properly adjusted.

Cheers,

it has nothing do to with cold weather, i live in Victoria and for the last 3 weeks weve had nothing but sun and warmth. The issue occured immediately after changing the bushings. I just changed the tranny fluid less than a month ago, and it still goes into gear fine, it just feels like something is resisting me all the way though 1/2 or 2/1 shifts, but nothing in other gears. I even feel it when i'm just pulling the shifter to the left of neutral. i'm gonna check the cables and try the old rubber bushings to see if it amkes it any better.

Ok, as long as you are convince the oil is fine and the level is good. The manual gives directions on adjustments and it's possible you have one rail detent locking pin engaged while the other rail is trying to move. These are designed to prevent it selecting 2 gears at the same time and need to have the access plug(s) removed and freeded up with some carb spray followed with lube oil/molly grease mix. Also if the level dropps the rails can gall in the aluminum casting and cause them to not move freely. The detent springs are pretty stiff but can't overcome rail problems. Keep us posted.

Cheers,

I took out the solid and put back the old rubber bushings jus to make sure it was them, and it was. I took a look and the solid bushing fit really tight on the post, so I sanded the the posts, put the solid bushings back in and now they work like a dream.
