Suttering when driving...no power

This is happening more and more often, but when i push down on the gas my car starts to sputter or bog. Sounds like the car is shitting or something. There's no go and it feels l9ike if I pushed on it my engine would blow. Some times if I catch first gear wrong it does this in 1st, 2nd, and then I go to third and get some power. i know about the fuel cut and all of that, but this has something else..so any clue?

Have you tried plugs and wires? Do you have any CEL's? Try the cheapest route in changing the plugs first. Thats 90% of most people's problems.

Check your timming belt.

Thanks for the replies so far. I was about to do the plugs and wires this weekend. I'll bechecking the timing belt tomorrow. Hopefully it's that simple...If anyone else has any info don't hesitate

Thanks for your help. I changed the wires and plugs and everything is perfect now.
