Well ive been noticing that my car has been riding alot rougher latley. At 80kmh in 4th if i accel a lil then let off the gas it will jerk/hop a lil. When my car idles i can hear a faint knocking sound and my mecahnic says talons just have noisey trannies usually. Today my fans kept commin on and i head a semi noisey ticking like sound comming out of my engine. In 1st if i accel to 3k rpms then let off the gas il get a nice lil hop. Could this be the xfer case maybe? All i got done to my car is a k&n filter catless exaust and a MBC(with 11psi boost) the car only has 135,000 k's on it. Ive just been very very concered about my car since i had to get the head rebuilt and tieming redone casue another mecahnic screwed up
 
Talons shouldn't have noisy tranny's. Try to verify exactly where the sound is coming from, that will help with a diagnosis. Bell housing(clutch) area, engine area (top or bottom) or transmission area. If you crank the wheel all the way to one side and run a real tight circle, does one tire skip or hop? Try that and let us know.
 
If i turn sharp corners the car does not skip or hop. It only hops when i apply gas. The slight ticking is comming from under the engine. And the Tieming belt does make a lil noise becasue its moving right?
 
Does it tick in neutral (clutch in or out)? Does the tick increase in frequency and/or volume with RPM?
 
It was ticking in nertal. I actually got the tick to go away by reving to 5 grand it once. A very little bit of the ticking will go away when i put the clutch down(i have to like almost stick my head in the engine to hear that ticking with the hood open) Its still cold here in Ab canada about -5 to -15 C overnight and in the morning would that have anything to do with it? I just drove it today and it seemed to idle like normal at ~900 rpm with very minor noise comeing from the tieming belt like its always done. I just dont get what that ticking was last night that i heard in the drivers seat without the hood open. But i had driven it from work lastnight at 80kmh on the freeway for about 15-20 mins and thats when i heard the louder ticking. I just left it idle for a min or 2 to cool my turbo down before i shut it off that is when i heard it. I went out later that night(after letting it cool down) and i didnt hear the ticking but the fans came on for some reason.
 
Just because we can't feel the definition of what you call hop, I wonder if your hop is actually bad motor mounts. What you describe can happen if your mounts are weak (130k with torqueing pulls will wear out stock mounts). Check them by driving in 1st or 2nd around 3000-3500 rpm and then totally back off throttle. See if you get bounce when you back off. If so is it the same as your hop? As for the ticking, it sounds more engine related (bring up rpms affects noise. noise happens in all gears and neutral. Push in clutch and engine load is slightly affected). Just a thought
