weird noise weird vibration out of ideas

I've been reading your guys forum for a while now but just now got registered. I have a 92 eclipse GSX but I'm working on my girlfriends 92 talon TSi that I built for her(it used to be my parts car) and I just put a new motor(I actually built it from all the busted ones around my shop) in her car. and it has a semi loud ticking sound between 3000 and 7000 RPM which worstens with more speed. I also noticed that when I'm revving it from under the hood I can feel a bad vibration through the intake manifold at the same RPMs. I'm checked the timing on the balance shafts 3 times now and both are perfect, I even made sure the rear one wasn't 180 off. You think I could have torn up a balance shaft bearing? I know you've had alot of these questions but none seem to match mine completely. If you guys have any sugestions please let me know she's getting pissed without her car.

Crankshaft pulley/harmonic damper

Water pump

Both or either of these can self destruct any minute when they get to this point. I had both on mine at the same time!

Well first the crank pulley/harmonic damper went out, then the waterpump.

Did you drop the oil to see if there might be some metal shavings in it? That might tell you if its a bearing issue.

I assume you are familiar with the infamous "Lifter Tick" from the old-style HLAs?
If the oil pan looks clean may want to swap in a new set of HLAs.
