i just finished my b16g turbo install, or atleast i hope i did. I cranked the engine over like i was supposed to for a little and then started the engine up. Now alot of smoke came out of the mani and o2 housing but im guessing thats cuz of the pb blaster and stuff i sprayed. Now i had alot of smoke coming out of my exhaust while idling and it was white so im assuming thats antifreeze. now i didnt know how much to put in so i poured in a gallon and a half since that was about all that i lost while doing the install. If i put too much in is it burning the extra amount up and therefore all the smoke in the exhaust.
Next question.. i snapped a bolt for the exhaust manifold to the head... but i have all the rest on. I hope this isnt too much of a problem the head half is still there so there isnt any leak or anything. Also i couldnt remove the o2 housing stud from the turbo. So i have 3/4 bolts on is that gonna cause much of a problem at all?
Next... my j pipe wouldnt exactly match up to my lower intercooler pipe so i connected two couplers together to reach the licp. Is that ok?
Finally, for some reason my oil return hose is leaking like a drop here or there and no matter how tight i make it it steal tends to leak a little. What can i do to fix this. I put rtv on it now and im gonna see how that held up through the night.

Any answers or ideas to any of these questions will be greatly appreciated thanks alot

The smoke coming out is normal for a turbo install should go away after a few minutes. About the coolant, you should open the radiator cap and fill 50/50 water to antifreeze until it tops out, then squeeze the bottom radiator hose to get all the air bubbles out. Then fill your coolant reservoir up to the full line on the bottle. The broken exhaust manifold bolt would be ok for now, you might want to invest to get it out later on. Did you reuse the gasket for your oil return line? A new one should stop all the leaking you have.

Thanks for the reply... well the smoke from the manifold went away like after a few minutes like you said. The one thing i forgot to mention was that the smoke kinda had a green color to it it was weird, but also there seemed to be smoke coming from the radiator itself. Mabye i was seeing things but thats actually what concerned me more.

Yea the smoke coming from the radiator is the cooland burning off. Should also go away after a while. :thumb: About the LICP, I guess your two coupling would work, But I think it might blow off after you start boosting. Might be a good start to invest in a LICP for you 16g.

Is this a used or new turbo? If the smoke persists, the turbo seal could be dumping coolant on the exhaust side. Just an idea.

it is a used turbo but everything seems in good condition on it and the smoke from the exhaust started to die down after it warmed up but im thinking the cold weather has something to do with it b/c i used to have smoke come out even before the turbo swap. Its more of the smoke from the radiator that concerns me that comes up after i drive it but someone already said thats normal and it will go away as well, so im just waiting to see.
I test drove it this morning while boosting it for the first time, i had it set to 11 psi and everything ran great, my only concern was that i was hearing a light whistle while i was boostin, what could that mean?

yeah thats the whistle i was talking bout which comes after right around 5 psi. Thanks for the replies so far. And yea im gonna have to look for a way to take care of that mani to head bolt sometime in the future.

Also the stock intake tube doesnt fit properly without taking out the little black insert on the inside of the tube. Will that be ok for the time being until i get a new intake pipe? What size is the inlet of the b16g anyways?
