The install was done by a former Mitsu mechanic of seven years who owns a DSM himself.

1G intake mani, thermostat housing and soforth swapped onto the Cyclone engine. Supposedly, nothing electronic was touched. Without the keys in the ignition, there was power to the fuel pump and injectors. The injectors clicked when the battery was hooked up.

From the explanation I received (using ecu wiring diagram from dealer manual), he said it was the ECU harness for the injectors that needed to be repaired. Done. Second ECU also fried. ECU #3 is on the way. Anyone have any ideas?

have you never heard of testing ground fault with a multi meter... good grief man...

Something 12V is grounding... or shorted.
 
Actually, the reason why these blow up is because the ISC circuit is getting shorted to 12v. The driver chips handle pulling the circuit to ground causing current to flow but there is suppost to be some resistance via the ISC coils to limit that current. The drivers don't like trying to pass 10+ Amps and go poof.
