During a steady cruise, the RPM and speed stays constant. The motor revs nice, feels nice and everthing is working right. Then all of a sudden, it feels like one cylinder is either not firing. Not sure what it is, either fuel or spark. But what could be the cause of this?

Could be a number of things? Is your car an Auto or Manual Transmission? Just asking because of the weird stutter issues that I have seen an Automatic Trans cause. If it is, check your fluid level and condition and then go drive it again but this time don't let it go into high gear. Manually shift it down one notch and then try to duplicate the condition. You're just trying to see if the torque converter is causing the surge when it locks up at cruising speed. If it isn't there, shift into drive and see if it comes back a few seconds later?

You say during a steady cruise so I'm assuming you're on the throttle. Two questions:

1. Does it seem like it does this once the motor has warmed up or is it completely random?

2. Does it stop if you let off the throttle for a couple seconds then get back on it again?

1. It does it weather it is cold or warmed up. It is completely random. I didn't let it warm up yesterday and pulled it out of the driveway and did it in less then 30 seconds.

2. Yes it will go back to normal and be perfectly fine if i let off the throttle all the way and then get back on it in like 3 seconds.

3. I just replaced the spark plugs but not the wires. And I have had a 6 bolt swap but I just got it fully rebuilt. I have a 2g with a 6bolt and a 2g head.

Do you know anyone nearby with the same car? I would try swapping out the coils and igniter if new plug wires don't help.

I haven't had a chance to swap out the igniter or the coil..

After driving around a little more today I realized a few things..

When it starts sputtering, it feels like 1 cylinder goes out.

It also only occurs when I am in between 10 and 20 vacuum.

Any other suggestions?

I developed a stuttering problem. Turned out it was just the free cruddy Arco gas I was using. I put in 16oz of Toluene with a 1/4 a tank left and it's running WAY better.

Gonna be replacing fuel filter, plugs, and wires here this payday.

Sorry, I know this is a little old, but if you're using a 2G ecu with a 1G CAS this problem will happen. I turned off the cylinder misfire detection function of the ECU using ECMLink and it went away. Problem solved.

Nice...I was just about to post the same thing but the OP's modlist didn't say anything about ECMlink, so I wasn't sure if he had the capability to check that box to get rid of RM. Also, since he mentioned it was with a 6 bolt swap, I'm quite suprised it has taken all this time to for someone to point out that it's probably due to the RM misfire issue with the 6 bolt CAS and 2g ECU. Way to keep the thread going, though with all this time that's gone by hopefully he's fixed that problem :)
