Ok this problem just started, and I can't figure out what the hell is causing it. It will boost fine if I slowly accelerate, but if I punch it, it'll boost for about 500-1000rpms and then it will start to flutter. If I am looking at the factory boost gauge, it will shoot up to like 14 as it starts to flutter. But once in a while, I can punch in and it will boost fine.

So is this fuel cut? Or boost creep/boost spike? I just need to know what this is that I'm experiencing, maybe a vaccuum leak somewhere?

Thanks guys.

Is your car n/t w/a turbo. If not the factory boost guage is junk and only infers boost as a function of airflow and rpm. Just get an aftermarket boost guage and go from there. :thumb: :laser:

Assuming you are still on stock boost levels,(i hope without having a boost guage) i wouldnt worry about it too much unless it just dosent feel like its pulling as hard as it should be. But to completely figure it out and make sure the boost isnt droppin off, you need an aftermarket b/g. Yah the stock one is a toy. :thumb: :laser:

Yeah, I'm still at stock boost, but the 'fluttering' problem has made a big difference on performance. I beat a stock WRX in it a while back, but today I was cruising on the interstate and a 4 door Escort LX started to pull on me. I went as far as downshifting to 3rd, and he still pulled ahead of me.

I have this intermitent problem aswell. Its a boost leak Im pretty sure. My factory side mount doesnt hold pressure due to some tiny holes in the fins somewhere. Do a boost leak check. Pay close attention to the intercooler.

Ahhh...haha...*emabarassed*

Did you know that a bad spark plug wire can bring on the impression of a boost leak?

I didn't, but I do now. :| I should've known - always check the simple things first.
