ok i took my car in and at first they said its an internal tranny problem.. now they say that i just need a new clutch.. so let me describe my problem and see what ya'll think

It is really hard to get it into gear when im driving.. if i pump the clutch 2 times it seems to go into gear with out much problem.. otherwise its nearly impossible.. if the car is not moving and im just sitting there i have no problem getting into any of the gears.. but if im driving its almost impossible.. car has approx 120k miles on it.. its a 95 n/t.. also when i first start it up it tends to jump a little bit even if i have the clutch mashed to the floor.. the pedal does seem a bit more loose than it use to... was wondering some other opinions on this because i dont want to have to dish out the cash for a new clutch if i dont need to..
on a side note they said the master and slave were fine.. how can i check them myself to make sure? also please explain where they are.. im not the big mechanic guy so i dont know alot about these things.. any help or comments would be greatly appreciated

thanks

1. Check the fluid level and leaks at MC and SC. If you can afford to take your car to the shop, you can afford a service manaul. :thumb:
2. Bleed the clutch, sounds like you're barely making enough pressure.

I Don't think it's the clutch, you would be slipping in 3rd, 4th and 5th under load.

Like oldman said blead the MC/SC because you likely have an air bubble in the line.

Worst case your syncros are going out, at 120k miles this is likely. First off check the fluid level in your tranny. I bet its low thus causing excessive wear on the syncro.
Another posabilitie is a bent fork, but I dont see this as likely on a NT with a stock clutch.

bleed the slave cylinder... if u jack up the car and lay under it the cylinder is right in the front of the tranny with a bleeder that looks just like a brake bleeder... get sum 1 to pump the clutch like 10 times and hold the line may have air... run about a half bottle of fluid thru it cuz them damn things are tempromental. It could also be the stupid master cylinder cause i'm going thru this right now except i think my slave cylinder is shot... your throwout bearing could also have shavings in it from the clutch burning a little bit if you have any slipping going on... I don't know much about internals but it seems fluid level could also be the cause as stated before. :barf:

if that's the case plan on rebuilding the tranny or better yet just replacing it so you don't have to mess with it.

Follow directions here http://www.plymouthlaser.com/slave2.htm for bleeding, don't just crank the valve open because air will get back in before you close the valve.
