I was wondering, how do you depressurize the lines for the air conditioning system on a 1995 GST? If someone could please help me out. The car is not mobile so I cannot take it to a mechanic or specialist in a/c's.

Thank you in advanced,
Ryan

Elyria eh, is there a Home Depot near you or Oberlin?? How about a "Big Lots"? Unrelated to your question but would be help to me.

Your concern is valid but probably not much you can do except release the pressure slowly. The reason for slow is to not force any oil which may be in suspension with the freon out with the gas. Do consider that cars are involved in accidents all the time which break pipes, condenser, and hoses etc. Still the environment is to be considered. Unfortunately they have not invented a chemical to degrade into something useful. You can get an old working refirgerator compressor, attach needed fittings and pump into a proper tank. This is assuming you have a manifold set to monitor pressures and observe all safety concerns. What are you trying to do that requires opening the pressurized A/C system?

Yeah Big Lot's is about 2-3 minutes away, home depot is about a 7-10 min drive to there, and about the same for Oberlin.

Thanks for the info.

I am currently getting ready to pull the motor out and I need to get the condenser off. I was thinking that I might be able to by pass that by just un bolting the condenser and tie-ing it up out of the way. But the Haynes book states to have a specialist release the pressure, then for us to ubLOLt and take out the unit.

Hi Ryan:

My son is a performance major there and in need of some Elmer's Polyurethane glue and a couple of wood working clamps to repair a crack in a very expensive flute case. Home Depot for glue and clamps at Big Lots. Thank you very much.

..........

I am not a DSM expert so can't tell you it can or can't be done. I have done as a professional what you you proposed on other vehicles and even left the condenser in place. I took a piece of 3/8" plywood and cut so it would protect the condenser should slinging the engine out it didn't scuff the fins, might be worth a try just as tying the compressor off to a strut to keep it from fouling some other parts. My son sold his car so I can't take a look and see if this is feasable. The exhaust is pretty straight forward so you can gain several inches if you pull the manifold, the intake is a bit more involved but you can pull that as well if you have the need. All manuals are like cook books they are advisory tools and some things may have not been discovered yet or mechanics just want to keep them secret. Maybe someone else who has been there and done that will jump in here and tell us some shortcuts.

Cheers,
GTM
