running lean

can anyone help me w/ this problem. i know i need a logger but i cant afford one right now. car is running lean, ichecked my spark plugs 2day and they're white so the cars running lean. i got the gm maft, how can i richen up the car so the car wont be lean. i was reading in the maft manual and it says to turn the idle knob up to richen the car. can i just turn up the knob to richen up the car?

While plugs could also mean they are running on the high end of their heat range. Until I switched to 7's my plugs were always matt white when I pulled them. The FI system we use doesn't make it easy to read plugs. Unless you make a run and shut the engine down and coast to a stop to pull and read them, driving with the ECU in closed loop will pretty much mask any open loop mixture information from the plugs.
