i hate to ask this but, a little help please(long)

hey ya'll i ummmmm have a slight problem i have a 91 laser 1.8 and i have a timing issue.... now my chilton is tellin me one thing and the spare motor is tellin me another.....now my situation involes the crank timing mark...seems to me the spare engine is wrong and the chilton is wrong....cause there is a timing thingy by the bottom pulley (ya know the one that says BTDC......then on the timing belt cover at the bottom is 3 little marks and when the #1 cylinder is up the whole way the only timing mark on the crank pully is no where near the "BTDC" thingy.......

i know this might be a pai9n in the ass but could someone please help me out here......or i am gonna get rid of my #3rd DSM and go by honda #8

so i guess i ddint ask my question where r the damn timing marks on the crank pulley and where do they go cause 5 degrees BTDC dont seem to work

Ok, the BTDC is a pointless mark, a simple timing referance.

You need to be concerned with the TDC or -0- mark.

The TDC/-0- will tell you when the crank (#1 piston) is at the highest point. That is when you go around checking line up points.

You may find it makes more sense with that...
