toronto,
hey guys this problem just happened literally overnight for no good reason, didnt smack any curbs, or potholes etc.
I'm on my way to work today and I notice a lil steering wheel shimmy at speeds of under 35mph... it immediately confused me... i drove up to speeds of 55mph, and at 55mph the wheel will shake about an inch back and forth, its almost hard to control, its seriously horrible.
any ideas? Im gonna get the cars wheels rebalanced tomorrow if I can find a shop, who will do em in 20 mins as I work all day.
the tires have 2000kms on them top, theyre in mint shape still, the rims havent been bent etc, theyre fine, brakes are within 5000kms old. stupid problems like this just piss me right off.
thanks if anyone can help.

You may have thrown a wheel weight. Or if you've been driving through any fairly deep snow you may have snow and/or ice built up inside the wheel. It's amazing just how little the amount of snow/ice has to be to completely screw up your wheel balance. If there is no build up or sections off the wheel with snow or ice built up then I would try having the wheels re-balanced. If that doesn't cure it then you may be in for quite a guessing game.

check ur tie rod ends. mine gets a really bad vibration and shakes the whole car. just jack up ur front tires off the ground and wiggle them side to side. mine mooves about an inch.

yup it was the ice, two days ago I pulled off the side of the road in the damn booonies, and all of a sudden the car fell in 2 feet, (snow covered ditch)... both passenger rims were stuffed so full of ice and snow the rotor was dragging through it.
