Ladysmith,
So my balance shaft belt broke, bent valves etc. I rebuilt my head and put her back on, oil change new plugs etc etc. Everything went good, started first try.

Now, I've set the timing, everything like that is good.

Start her up, she runs great for around a minute and half, then the check engine light comes on and she starts to run a lil ruff, not bad, just not perfectly smooth like it is for the first minute.

As far as I know every sensor, line and hose is hooked up correctly, execpt for one, under the intake manifold.

Is the plug on the manifold brace, the braces it to the block. I believe the plug come out of the firewall, then plug into the plug on the brace.
On the other sude of the plug on the brace is lead to a little wire that leads to nothing, it had a long rubber sleave on it, but i pulled that off and there's just a wire leading to nothing. Anyone know what this is, or why my cars having the above symptom?

Thanks is advance

Wayne

I found out that the plug was my knock sensor, the wire was ripped half way down, so fixed that, cuz you know a knock sensor is probably a good thing to have, but what do i know. :p :shhh: .

Anyways that didn't fix the check light.

I dont own a diagnostic computer. Is there another way to check the CEL, or whatever it is I have to do to get a "readout", sorry I'm not familiar with the CEL procedures.

Thanks

Wayne

You talked about basically rebuilding your engine, don't you have a Haynes manual? In the Haynes it talks about how to check the code with a voltmeter. Connect one side to pin 12 in the diag port and the other to port 1 I think if I remember correctly, count the times it jumps back and forth slow vs fast. That's the code.

I used shopkey and All data once or twice for what I needed.

I have a chilton manual on my comp, the photocopied one. I'll look through it and see what it says, or I'm sure I'll find it elsewhere, because now that you mention that I have heard of that.

Thanks alot :) :thumb:
