Ok I have sort of a noob question even though I own 2 DSM’s and been on this site for more than a year now.

I just bought a 90' 2.0 GS as a daily driver and I had to put a new clutch in it which wasn’t too difficult, I had to pull the CV shafts, motor, and all accessories to change it.

well I got it all back together and went to take it out for a test drive and when I came back I inspected it like I do all my cars to make sure everything was fine and it was except for the next day when I went to go check on it and there was a puddle of oil that looked like it had fallen from the front bumper, I inspected this a little more and im pretty sure its coming from that little tubular cooling thing that sits in front of your radiator not sure what its called but what does it cool? the oil that’s coming out of it is pretty thick like gear oil and not old brake fluid like I thought because I spilled some on the car accidently but this is coming out alot and right after I take it out for a drive.

Also I would like to ask is how do you know how much gear oil to put in,
I drained the trans before I put it all back together in was wondering how do you check if its full, I already know that the oil capacity is 1.9qt's but can you hurt it if you put too much in there or will it just shoot the excess fluid out somewhere (not sure if there is a way) also not sure if I have enough in there because I only put in about a quart in a half because I wasn’t sure if there was still some in there that I didn’t get out when I drained it.

welp, i found the leak and it was that cooler piece, i was trying to see what it was for so i tracked down the hoses for it in it was the power stearing, duh! LOL. i must have cracked it some how when i was tighting down the little clamp that holds it to the front suport, anyways i got that out of the way and fixed.

So...anyone know how to check the manual trans fluid? if there is a way...
