I just finished a maintenance job, it included:

timing belt
water pump
all accessory belts
thermostat
radiator
spark plugs (which we had troulbe gapping)
spark plug wires

I have a Big 16 G, GM MAF + MAF T.

The car ran fine before the job.

Now it idles inconsistently, it kinda surges at idle the RPMs rise and fall, in person it sounds kinda like a gurggling.

I've attached a video.

any questions, please ask :(

Yup check timing marks, i replaced mine and then had bad idle the problem was the guy didn;t ajusted the tensioner with the right tool.

I was lucky i didn't bend any valves.

Adjust your BISS, check for boost leaks, check to make sure your timing is fine.

BISS?

Don't have any boost leaks. The timing marks should be lined up, I will take a picture of the cam gears for you guys and post it up.

So your problem is solved now? You mention the tensioner tool, what does that do? Isn't it just to hold the tensioner pulley in place while you release the auto tensioner? Didn't know you could adjust it?

I think ur looking for the Mitsubishi Special tool NO. MD998752 as per the haynes repair manual secion 2B-8 1/2 way down the center colum

Yes my problem was solved.

It is not like u hold the tensioner with ur hand and adjust the bolt, u need that tool to engage it on the two holes it has. ( at least that was what they told me ) :D. :dsm:

We stuck a 90 deg plyer in there to hold it in place, does that work?

How do we "adjust the tensioner"? and why would this cause the car to be ghetto like it is?
