Here is the problem. Was driving home from work the other night got ready to pull into blockbuster to get something to watch. I start making the turn and all of a sudden my car started making a noise. Not just any noise, no not my car it start to sound like I was driving a tank down the road. So I pull in pop the hood listened to see if I could trace the noise to it's source. I traced it back to the timing gear. Decided lets call it a night had it towed out to my garage. Well the next day I get a call from my garage they asked what happen I told them they said okay well check it out about three hours later I get another call. He told me yeah you were right the tensioner for the timing belt the idler and some possible valve damage was what was wrong. He gives me the estimate of $700.00 thats not including the valve work if it's needed. So I said I'd have it brought back out to my house that I don't have the money to fix it right now. This all couldn't have come at a better time either cause Friday I'm moving to Florida and now my transpertation is dead. I bought the care about six months ago cause my other eclipse was cut in half by a tractor trailer. Yeah not a great thing to happen. So I think I'm going to try and get rid of the car but I still owe $7000 for it so if anyone has some good ideas let me know. If someone wants to by it that would be great. Well hey thanks.

Is this the 97 non turbo in your profile? If so how do you owe that much on a n/t? OMG

Junk yard parts are your friend in this case. Do your own work to save the money. If you can do it yourself the cost will probably be a quarter of the mechanics estimate.

The car in my profile was split into two peices about six months ago by a 18 wheeler. Not the greatest thing to happen so I suggest trying to avoid it if I can find some picture of what it looked like after I'll post some up. The one in my profile is a non-turbo but I did have the hahn race craft stage III turbo kit for it sitting at home I was just waiting to put it on till summer came since I didn't want to drive my new kit in the winter. The 97 eclipse I have now was bought about 2 weeks after my accident and since my insurance didn't cover any of my parts that were on it i had to go back to stock. the car has 70000 miles on it. only had it for less then six months and now this. i don't want to fix the car. i want to get rid of it.
