Well my fuel system and plugs are stock, just before I tell you all of this. So today when starting it started up fairly nicely and was idling for a bit to let it warm up. Then all of a sudden it starts to stumble a bit, then goes back to normal. Then stumbles more and more and more with the RMP's dropping. I try to give it a little gas and it just makes it drop even more while giving this wheezing sound like its just not getting anything. Then when i dont give it gas it just evens out to 500RPMs or so and then falls and dies. I could only get it to start once after that and it did the same thing. Started up, fell a bit, tried to give it gas, falls, stabalizes and quickly dies. Most of the time it will just stumble as long as I give it gas for and wont start and will die once i stop giving it gas when trying to start it. Fuel pump???...injectors? Something else?

Well I've tried to start it after trouble shooting a bit, and my spark plugs seem to be in good enough shape. However, I have noticed that when i start it, it fumbles, then dies with a screeching sound heard under the throttle body, so I've pretty much ruled out the possibility of the plugs being gone. Could there be a clog in the fuel line, or a blockage in the fuel filter, or could it be my pump or injectors?

Could be many things, try changing the vac lines, fuel filter, plugs/wires. do a boost leak test, their could be a leak by the throttle body gasket or intake manifold to engine gasket. Could also be ecu, Cam angle sensor, timing and many other things.....

Get some fuel injector cleaner and put it in the gas. Change your spark plug wires/plugs. I know you said you ruled out the plugs but you didnt say anything about the wires. Sounds like what my car did when i needed new wires. Just an idea though. Hope that helps a little. :thumb: :talon:

Oh and i almost forgot, you need to get yourself one of these!!

Ashwin, where would you be without me? :p

Does your ECU click that you can hear? My 1g did the same thing but it was the ECU.

Well i was starting it up today after putting in some more oil because it was pretty low and it made that screeching sound a few times but now its alright. Starts normally and everything. I'm thinkin that it could have been the starter that was screeching, but the reason why it died WHILE it was idling is still unknown. The car runs great now and there seems to be no problems whatsoever except for a little sreech when starting it up when the engine is still cold. It very well could have been the ECU, but why it would be working now i dont know. I'm getting the 60K mile checkup done early at 56K, so hopefully that should sory out any problems... I'm gonna have this mechanic down in Van Nuys that knows a lot about DSM's and such take a look at it and hopefully do the 60k mile at the same time. And btw bigglesworth, i DO have that book. Anyhow, hopefully there wont be any more problems in the future after i get the 60K and a new starter in if thats the problem. What a retarded car....

LMK how that mechanic in Van Nuys is, i am thinking of going that route myself. I wasnt sure if you had the book..... Jees Ashwin, JERK! :D j/p :thumb: :talon:
