I was driving my 1g to work this morning, and I was about 4 miles from my house getting on the freeway. Everything was fine, but I noticed this "whirring" sound. I turned down the heater and the radio, and the sound was extremely loud. It was kind of pulsating and I couldn't tell where it was coming from. The car was running fine. No C/E light or anything. I slowed down a bit to 50 or so. I look at my speedo and it's all the way up at 125mph! I had just gotten on the freeway and I'm pretty sure I didn't take the ramp that fast. So I pull over then all of a sudden the speedo pops all the way back down to the correct speed and the noise goes away. Could this be the speed sensor the speedo cable? I wouldn't think that those would make that kind of noise. It was extremely cold out this morning, so I'm not sure that couldn't have caused it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
